Big Red Barn Preschool teaches kids about ag daily - 13 On Your Side's April Hettinger sits in on a lesson

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - In today's Home Grown, we feature some farmers who are starting their agriculture career at a young age.

Preschoolers at the Big Red Barn in Yuma learn how to garden and take care of livestock every day.

They grow all organic crops and even get to eat their own vegetables and eggs during snack time.

5-year-olds like Elijah Bosman and Liam Lomaitnewa list what they grow at the preschool.

"Broccoli, corn and carrots," Elijah said. "Squash and I think sweet potatoes," Liam added.

Leland Rhea explains what the crops need to be taken care of.

"You need to give love to them," Leland stated. "Sun, they need some water and they need some love," Elijah chimed in.

Hailey Howden tells us why the vegetables and livestock need these essentials.

"So they can be healthy," Hailey explained.

As for the livestock, they are learning how to raise chickens, sheep, goats, baby pigs, rabbits, a donkey and a pony.
