California police officers deliver Mother’s Day flowers after DUI arrest

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - Some mothers in California got their Mother's Day gifts delivered by Fairfield police officers on Sunday.

It all happened after a flower delivery driver was arrested in Northern California for drunk driving with loads of Mother's Day flowers in the vehicle.

According to police, the delivery driver was in the middle of his route when he was involved in an accident. The officers discovered that the driver was impaired and was later arrested for a DUI.

After booking the driver, several Fairfield officers gathered the flowers and candy out of the car and started delivering them to waiting customers.

"We looked at the number of flowers and the manifest log he had, and the invoices," said officer Jausiah Jacobsen. "We can't let the flowers and chocolates stay here. Obviously a bunch of people are going to be bummed out. We divvied it up among some officers and got them on their way and got them delivered to various houses."
