Blue Origin to auction tickets for first space tourism flight
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Blue Origin is set to launch its first commercial passenger mission on July 20th and one spot will be reserved for the winner of an online auction.
Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon and the aerospace company Blue Origin, will launch the mission with the opportunity to include one lucky passenger.
Blue Origin is an American privately funded aerospace manufacturer and sub-orbital spaceflight service headquartered in Kent, Washington.
The fully autonomous spacecraft called New Shepard, can carry six passengers.
Anyone can place a bid online on the company's website and the first round of bidding is underway now through May 19th.
The bidding is also sealed, which means nobody can see how much other people have offered.
Blue Origin has not released who else will be on the first flight or how much they paid for their seats.
