Border Patrol to expand Explorer program in Indio

El Centro Sector Border Patrol announced Friday the expansion of the Border Patrol-Explorer Post 4108 program to Indio, Calif.

Until recently, Explorer Post 4108 primarily functioned out of the El Centro Sector Headquarters, but with the increased interest from community members, the directors of the program have agreed to establish a post in Indio.

Law Enforcement Exploring is a Boy Scouts of America program.

Through the Border Patrol Explorer Post, young people between the ages of 14 to 20 learn the role of law enforcement in the community.

The objectives of the Border Patrol Explorer’s Post are to educate interested youths in methods and objectives of law enforcement, to encourage explorer participation in rewarding and productive services, and to provide substance abuse prevention education.

Participants learn the basics of what it takes to be a Border Patrol Agent. From first aid to sign-cutting to learning police-oriented skills, the explorer program is a great avenue for young people interested in a career in law enforcement.
