San Luis Rio Colorado business gathering donations for earthquake victims

Communities, businesses, and organizations are coming together to help the victims of Tuesday’s 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Mexico City.

One of the businesses is Frutal, and they are spreading the word through social media. They are prioritizing themselves as a center of gathering. They are taking donations that will be sent to those affected.

Frutal’s Facebook page has over 40,000 followers. Julisa Rodriguez, a Frutal employee said there doing the most they can.

“Mostly we’re using social media, Facebook. We also got these fliers right here. We’re posting these in our business, on the walls, in our drive-thru. We’re doing the most we can to get the word out”

It seems to be working… they received multiple donations Wednesday morning. They are asking that people bring medical supplies, water, food, baby supplies, blankets, and non-perishable foods.

“Mostly we’re looking for water and food. Food, canned food, food that doesn’t go to waste that fast,” Rodriguez adds.

She said the earthquake destruction hits home for her and that everyone needs to come together to help.

“I just want to ask everyone for their support… how would you feel if something like that happened to you right now?” Rodriguez mentioned.
