Input needed for $21 million grant

First Things First, a public funding source for the state of Arizona, will be granting $21 million for Yuma County in support of early childhood development.

The Yuma Regional Partnership Council, who serve as volunteers, will distribute the donation funds in different communities in the area.

The funds were collected through a tobacco tax and will be distributed in the span of four years.

The Yuma Regional Partnership Council is inviting the community to join them in three Town Halls set to begin this Wednesday through Friday in different locations throughout the county to have their voices heard.

“We want to make sure that we meet the needs of these families,” said Nena Garcia, Community Outreach Coordinator for First Things First.

The organization is looking for the public and community leader’s input about how the funds should be distributed.

Here’s a list of the three Town Halls that will be held this week.
