Yuma man arrested after smuggling cocaine and meth

A 20-year-old Yuma man was arrested at Arizona’s Port of San Luis after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers find nearly $132,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in his vehicle Saturday morning.

Officers said the man was referred for a secondary inspection of his Ford Sedan. A CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted officers to one of the sedan’s rocker panels where 34 pounds of meth, worth almost $103,000, and more than 2.5 pounds of cocaine worth close to $29,000 were found.

Officers arrested the driver for narcotics smuggling before seizing the drugs and vehicle.

The suspect was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
