Topic of the Day: Future of Obamacare

13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

It’s been a hot button issue in Capitol Hill for some time now, the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare. But, the GOP backed replacement plan as been met by a blockade of Democrats and Republicans alike unhappy with it. With more Republicans standing against it, the future of a new healthcare plan is uncertain to say the least.

On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump tweeted “As I have always said, let ObamaCare fail and then come together and do a great healthcare plan. Stay tuned! That’s something analysts say could happen if Insurance companies keep bailing out due to poor profits. According to the latest reports if companies continue to remove themselves or continue to increase premiums to offset losses, Obamacare may fold.

But, some financial consultant feel that it may take a while to get there; one posted saying “Most carriers will stay and likely be in good shape financially in 2018,” said Robert Laszewski, a health care consultant and longtime critic of the law. “The individual health insurance market will not collapse.” But all agree, only time will tell.
