Bill package passed to help achieve California climate goals

California Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia had two bills pass before the state legislature on Monday.

AB 398 and AB 617 will establish a statewide program that will help achieve the climate goals while ensuring market stability to help keep jobs.

The proposals will also address the public health and air quality issues.

Assemblyman Garcia worked on this bill package in partnership with Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia who represents Bell Gardens.

Both assemblymembers spoke on the importance of these bills and calling it a bipartisan effort.

“As we’ve mentioned before, tremendous amount of high percentages of children suffering from respiratory disease problems. Very proud to be able to stand with our colleagues from both sides of the isle,” said Eduardo Garcia, California Assemblymember, 56th District.

“The reality is that we wouldn’t be here without either of those bills out there. And so while we didn’t get everything that everyone wanted, we are all collectively in a much better place and I think we are showing the world how to make sure that everyone matters,” said Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, 58th District.

Both measures still await a signature from California Governor Jerry Brown.
