Two local kids die in rollover crash
A 16-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy died in a roll-over crash earlier today.
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Interstate 8 near the west SR-98 overcrossing.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver, Alexis Oceguera, 19, tried to change lanes and failed to notice a car next to her.
She overcorrected to avoid crashing into the other driver causing her to lose control.
The two minors appear to not have been wearing their seat belts and were ejected during the crash.
A 4-year-old boy who was also in the car was taken to Rady’s Children Hospital in San Diego with unknown injuries.
Oceguera and a 53-year-old passenger only suffered minor injuries.
All passengers are from El Centro.
