Topic of the Day: Day to Pay Tribute to U.S. Flag

For most Americans it’s a symbol of what our country represents; a beacon to others of hope and prosperity. On this day we pay tribute to our nation’s strongest symbol “Old Glory”; since 1777 when the American flag was adopted as the country’s flag we’ve thanked those that have paved the way.
In neighborhoods across the country American flags are flown proudly and before many events crowds are asked to show our flag respect by reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Originally the flag started with only thirteen stars, one for each original colony; since then the number of stars have grown but the thirteen strips remain the same a remembrance of where we came.
According to PBS the blue represents our nation’s vigilance, the white stripes our purity and the red strips signify our valor.
