Topic of the Day: Memorial Day; more than a day off.

When it comes to patriotism Thomas Campbell said it best, “The patriot’s blood is the seed of freedom’s tree.” It’s for that very reason that each year we as a country remember our fallen peacekeepers. Memorial Day can be traced back to the Civil War; flowers and decorations were placed on the graves of both Union and Confederate soldiers.
Across the United States communities pay tribute to those lost, in their own way; whether it’s a parade, a grave side service or even a neighborhood barbecue. Regardless of which way we choose to remember, the important thing is that we pay homage to those that have fallen in battle, those who served and are now gone and those that will pay the ultimate price for freedom in the future.
