Police respond to school; students escorted off campus 1-by-1
Three students were taken into questioning by police after officers found an imitation gun that led Calexico High School to be placed on lockdown.
School officials say police received an anonymous call from a student who claimed to have seen another student with a gun on campus at about 2:40 p.m., on Thursday.
Police officers and Border Patrol agents searched the school and were able to find the imitation gun.
The gun turned out to be a toy gun with an orange tip, according to Calexico Unified School District, Superintendent Maria Ambriz.
Students were being escorted off campus one-by-one.
Hundreds of parents waited for their children to be allowed off school property.
