Rural Metro and Crossroads Mission team up for their Annual Coat Drive

The Rural Metro Fire Department is in partnership with Crossroads Mission for their ‘Annual Coat Drive’ event that benefits the homeless. This event usually takes place in the summer to prepare for the winter months and even though the Desert Southwest doesn’t get too cold, any type of a clothing donated is encouraged. Charly Mcmurdie, with Rural Metro explains. “This is our Annual Coat Drive, normally we do this in July, we moved it to May because this seems to be the time frame where we all think about cleaning out our closets and replacing some of those clothes that just don’t fit anymore. We are collecting coats, clothes, and shoes. We’re wrapping it up tomorrow, but you’re more than welcome to donate those items at any time to the Crossroads Mission,” said Mcmurdie. She also adds that they are collecting business wear attire, due to Crossroads Mission’s willingness to help the less fortunate find work. Donations can also be dropped off at Rural/Metro Station 5, 3620 W. 8th Street; Rural/Metro Station 2, at Hensleys Blvd. and N. Frontage Rd.; and Rural/Metro Station 10 at 13157 44th St.

At Station 5, items can be dropped off right inside the glass door between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
