YUHSD’s “Ready” campaign receives statewide recognition

Yuma Union High School District recently received an Award of Excellence from the Arizona School Public Relations Association ( ASPRA ) in recognition of the strategy and creative execution of the “Ready” campaign. Each year, ASPRA recognizes standards of excellence in school public relations through its ASPRA * tions Awards.

“It is an honor to be recognized by other professionals in public relations and alongside other districts in Arizona. We are grateful to Helios Education Foundation for their support of Ready Now Yuma and our ongoing communications efforts,” said Matt Buckley, Communications Director for Yuma Union High School District.

Yuma Union plans to replicate the campaign again this year during the month of May to celebrate the Class of 2017. The campaign is resonating with students on campuses across the district. “This year I have been approached by several students at different schools, really wanting to know how he or she can get on a billboard,” said Buckley. “It’s great to see our students want to represent their school and graduating class.”

Yuma Union’s May 2016 READY campaign was a multi-platform campaign highlighting the Ready Now Yuma (RNY) college and career readiness initiative to the community. The campaign was a visually simple, student-centered campaign, focusing on student success that represented each school and allowed students to share their personal story with the community. The “Ready” Campaign was recognized for its creativity and use of research, analysis, communication and evaluation.

The Arizona School Public Relations Association is a professional organization that provides support to educators involved in school public relations, as well as professional development activities for school public relations specialists.
