County workshops will discuss changes Prop 64 may bring

Imperial County officials are hosting a series of workshops to inform the public, but also hear their opinion, on recent changes in state law regarding the recreational use of marijuana in California.

Voters approved Proposition 64 last November, which legalized the possession and use of marijuana for non-medical use for adults 21 years of age or older. The vote also created state regulatory framework for commercial activity surrounding recreation, cultivation, manufacturing and distribution of marijuana.

Officials say they are hoping to hear the public’s input on the potential methods of local ordinances since Prop 64 could lead to new business in the county.
