Armed robber flees empty-handed

An armed robber fled empty-handed after he demanded money at knife point from a convenience-store clerk.

Yuma Police Department officers say the incident happened at 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday at the Circle K at 1798 S. Fourth Ave.

The man allegedly walked in, brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk called 911 but the man ran away before police got there.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds, wearing a blue hat and a black and white bandana covering his face. He was wearing a gray long-sleeve sweatshirt, blue jeans and white and black Converse shoes.

Police say anyone with information is encouraged to call YPD at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
