Taxi cab is carjacked in Calexico
Calexico police said on Thursday morning, around 6:00 a.m., a taxi cab driver reported he had just been carjacked at knifepoint.
Officer Peter West said, “A carjacking with a knife that occurred in the eleventh hundredth block of V.V. Williams, which is next to Santo Tomas Swap Meet.”
Police said the victim had feared for his life.
“The victim was held at knifepoint with a knife to the victim’s neck,” West said
It all started as a regular fare.
“The taxi cab driver had picked up the suspect, or the alleged customer at that point, somewhere in downtown Calexico,” West said.
The suspect wanted to go to the west side of town, near the Santo Tomas Swap Meet.
“Transported him to that location,” West said.Police
said that’s when the suspect pulled out a knife and put it to the taxi driver’s neck.
“Robbed at knifepoint, or carjacked, and the vehicle was taken by the suspect,” West said.
The driver was not injured. Local authorities began a search for the suspect and taxi cab.
“A short time later the vehicle – the taxi cab – was located in the area of Fourth and Emerson by the United States Border Patrol,” West said.

“A 24-year-old, dark-complected male wearing a baseball cap and a blue and white striped jacket, with sunglasses,” West said.
It isn’t known how much money was taken from the driver. Police want help in arresting the suspect.
“We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect or if they have any information,” West said.
