Residents at Sun Vista RV Park came home to surprise with fire trucks around their home, and something left cooking in the kitchen.

The fire happened Tuesday afternoon when maintenance noticed smoke coming out of a mobile home front window.

“We broke the windows and got the tanks out here and had to jump into action. We work at this park so we got to take action if there’s danger.”

The fire started in the trailer’s kitchen and was caused by items left cooking on the stove top.The kitchen was significantly damaged by the fire and other parts of the home were damaged by the smoke. No one was in the home at the time of the fire and the American Red Cross was called to assist the displace residents. According to the Yuma Fire Department, the number one place fires start in the home is in the kitchen. The most common place for the fire to start is on top of the stove.
