Pick-up truck crashes into disposal truck in three-car collision

Two people were sent to the hospital after a driver was rear-ended on the road causing him to crash into a disposal truck.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office deputies say the crash happened on Highway 95 and Avenue 4E at around noon on Monday.

Officials say the crash happened when Salvador Salcido, who was driving a Toyota truck, was rear-ended by Michael Van Allen, who was driving a Chevrolet truck.

The collision caused Salcido to lose control of his truck and travel into the on-coming lanes and into a Volvo disposal truck.

Salcido was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Van Allen was also taken to YRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident.
