Topic of the Day: Pope Francis Adresses Priest Shortage
13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:
Pope Francis has stunned the world with his modern ideals and recently hinted at possibly changing one of the Catholic church’s oldest laws. During an interview with a German reporter Pope Francis spoke about combating the church’s shortage of priests.
He spoke of possibly allowing married men to be ordained as priests; a law that has been in place for centuries. Catholic priests devote their lives to the cloth and either take a vow of celibacy or for diocesan priests they promise to be celibate.
Now, if this were to happen those priests already serving, will not be allowed to be married.
