Driver intentionally collides with other car and flees; arrested for attempted homicide
29-year-old Jesse Ramirez is behind bars for Attempted Homicide and other charges after police say he intentionally rammed a victim’s car with his Ford Expedition and fled the scene.
The Yuma Police Department says it responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries in the 2000 block South Fourth Avenue on Saturday, January 21 at approximately 6:31 A.M. While officers were responding to the incident it was reported a sport utility vehicle involved in the collision was fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival police found the victim’s vehicle which sustained heavy crash damage near the parking lot of the Chevron Gas Station on South Fourth Avenue. The initial investigation revealed a Ford Expedition intentionally rammed the victim’s Toyota Celica. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle was later found unattended with heavy front end damage in the 1000 block S. Arena Drive.
The suspect, 29-year-old Jesse Ramirez, was located, arrested, and booked into the Yuma County Jail for Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Endangerment, and Criminal Damage.
This case is still under investigation.
