Topic of the Day: Latest Poll Shows Low Approval Rating

The latest poll from the Wall Street Journal shows President-elect Donald Trump’s approval rating as one of the lowest in the poll’s history. One thousand Americans were polled between January 12 and the 15; of those polled 52 percent reported being disappointed with the President-elect’s transition into the presidency.

According to the poll three in ten Americans polled at a high level of confidence in the future president. Despite that opposition, however, a plurality of Americans — 43 percent — believe the United States will be better off five years from now, and the percentage of respondents who say the country is headed in the right direction has ticked up four points since last month to 37 percent.
