More people killed in crashes in 2016 than in 2015

More people were killed in crashes on Arizona highways in 2016 than in the year before.

KTAR-FM reports that according to the Department of Public Safety, 314 people were killed on the state’s highways last year, up from the 294 that were killed in 2015.

DPS Director Col. Frank Milstead says of the fatalities this year, 117 of those people were not wearing seatbelts. He also says speed was a factor in deadly crashes.
