YPD assault suspect arrested in Peoria

The man who allegedly hit a Yuma police officer in the head with a glass bottle during a traffic stop has been arrested.

Christian Michael Silva, 26, was arrested in Peoria, Arizona on Tuesday.

YPD officials say Silva assaulted the officer and fled on foot November 28.

Reports say the officer walked up to the car, Silva jumped out of the back seat and hit the officer in the head with a glass bottle.

The other passengers in the car denied knowing Silva. Officers found a sawed-off shotgun and other firearms in the car during the traffic stop.
