El Centro Border Patrol October highlights

Border patrol agents in the El Centro Sector ( ECBP ) have released their highlights for the first month of the fiscal year 2020.

ECPB saw a decrease in apprehensions compared to September. In October, agents apprehended 2,070 people compared to 2,466– a 16 percent decrease.

Agents also saw a 41 percent decrease in unaccompanied alien children ( UAC ).

There was a 24 percent decrease in family units ( FMU ). This decrease is primarily attributed to the nationwide decrease in enforcement actions.

Single adult apprehensions decreased significantly as well.

ECPB saw 4 assaults on agents, compared to 32 in September, ” attributed to increase of resources for border securty , ” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Ryan J. Scudder .

” Our investment in infrastructure, personnel and technology will only continue to help those who protect our community, ” he said.

Customs and Border Protection saw total enforcement actions decline by 14 percent on a nationwide scale in October.

In terms of drug seizures, ECBP seized 63 pounds of meth, 2 pounds of Heroin, and 15 pounds of Fentanyl . Meth seizures decreased, however Heroin and Fentanyl increased considerably.
