Yuma Police Department offering free window VIN etching
The Yuma Police Department ( YPD ) is hosting a Free window VIN Etching event on Saturday, November 9th in a fight against auto theft.
Etching your vehicle’s VIN number on the window works like fingerprint. When a car is stolen, the thieves must change the VIN plate on the dashboard, making it theirs.
However, with vehicles that have been VIN etched, thieves would have to replace each window, making it much harder for them to get away with the crime, and likely deterring them from stealing such a car.
It is much more likely that a thief will notice the etching on the glass, and will move on to a vehicle without VIN etchings.
Protect your property and take advantage of this free event put on by YPD . It takes less than ten minutes per car.
Come to the Target Parking Lot in the Yuma Palms Parkway on Saturday, November 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Make sure to bring proof of registration. You will be required to fill out a consent form.
