Council to discuss search of a new city administrator

The Yuma City Council will discuss applicants for the open city administrator position during an executive session Monday night.

The position is no longer open on the city’s employment website.

Council opened the search after the last administrator, Greg Wilkinson, decided to retire amid controversy at the end of April.

Wilkinson was in hot water after he was accused of threatening the pay raises of first responders if a Yuma Police Sergeant was given a department award.

Wilkinson admitted to News 11 that he did tell the former police chief not to award the sergeant.

Interim City Administrator Jay Simonton has taken over the role while the city continues to search for the new administrator.
