Customers disagree with Walmart’s decision on guns

With Walmart’s announcement this morning that it is halting all sales of ammunition, the retailer is also asking customers in open carry states to no longer carry handguns inside their stores.

Arizona is one of the few states that come to mind when attempting to figure out which states actually are proud to honor the 2nd Amendment due to the state’s open carry law.

The new store policy will not affect authorized law enforcement officers from carrying weapons if they step inside the store.

Customers here in Yuma are very divided in opinion and many agree that it will boost safety inside the department store, but others feel it is a move on Walmart’s behalf to be in good graces with its customers.

Some also believe that if an individual is really trying to go on a shooting spree, they will find other means to obtain a weapon to commit the crime.

Philieman Pierce is one of those shoppers that believes that Walmart’s decision isn’t going to solve the active shooter problem we are facing in the United States, but that instead might leave the public in a more vulnerable position to get hurt.

” It’s wrong because if you are going to do anything criminal, you’re gonna get a weapon regardless, ” said Pierce. ” People not carrying a weapon will make them even more vulnerable to people that want to commit crimes. ”
