El Centro set to celebrate Mexican Independence

The City of El Centro is inviting the public to celebrate Mexican Independence at El Grito de Independencia event in September.

The event is taking place on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Bucklin Park in El Centro. The city is teaming up with the Consulate of Mexico in Calexico for this annual event.

El Grito de Independencia is a free family oriented event that begins at 6 p.m. and concludes at 9:30 p.m. The event will have diverse activities, live entertainment, and food vendors.

Entertainment will include Ballet Folklorico from the El Centro House of Cultural Arts, Mariachi ” Los Viajeros ” , Grupo ” Ollin Yoliztli ” a Ballet Folklorico from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, ( UABC ) and the headliner band will be Aferrados de la Sierra, which is a norteno band from Mexicali.

A press conference will be held on August 27 at the El Centro Council Chambers in City Hall at 11:00 a.m. and is inviting anyone to attend to ask questions about the event.
