Two men under the influence of meth arrested by Border Patrol Agents

Border Patrol agents arrested two men last weekend who were under the influence of meth, and behaving erratically.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents ( CBP ) said they encountered the men in two separate incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, CBP claimed a man illegally crossed the border into the U.S., east of the Port of San Luis, and that the man behaved erratically. The man was a Mexican National, and emergency medical services assessed him before he was taken into CBP custody for processing.

While the man was under CBP supervision, agents say the man struck at the light in his cell, ripped up floor matting, and urinated on the door. CBP claimed that a record check showed the man to be an admitted Paisa gang member, who has an extensive criminal history.

On Sunday morning, agents responded to reports of a man who was running near the Colorado River. The man was said to have a pitbull with him, as well as a metal pipe with a blade attached to the tip. Agents said he was acting in a threatening manner , where they then deployed an electronic control weapon, and were able to arrest the man. The man is a U.S. citizen with two extraditable warrants out of Washington.

CBP reported both men were determined to be under the influence of meth at a later time.

“Our agents face a variety of threats while patrolling the border,” said Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony Porvaznik . “However, their experience and training allows them the ability to safely make arrests even when facing attackers under the influence of dangerous narcotics.”
