Quintero trial continues, detective on case takes the stand

Week two of the Quintero murder trial began with the detective on the case taking the stand. The detective from the Somerton Police Department ( SPD ) detailed the night shots were fired in the Little Caesars parking lot.

The detective said she was sent to the hospital to interview both victims that had been shot. She detailed to State of Arizona prosecutors that she was informed by Clarissa Medina’s emergency room doctor that she arrived at the hospital experiencing cardiac arrest. The doctor said they tried to save her life but she died around 9:22 p.m. on January 3, 2018.

The detective then spoke to Medina’s co-worker and the victim who was still alive.

The detective described seeing the victim’s right cheek swollen with a white tube in his mouth. She added that she spoke to the victim for about 23 minutes and said he was “all over the place” and had a difficult time remembering what had happened and the order it happened.

She then detailed going to the morgue to view Medina’s body. That is where she said she discovered Medina was shot 4 times, twice in the back.

The clothing both victims were allegedly wearing that night was taken out and shown to the jury.

The detective opened and showed the jury a white pair of tennis shoes with what appeared to be bloodstains on them that allegedly belonged to the victim who survived a gunshot wound to the face.

The detective then opened and showed the jury the sweatshirt Medina was allegedly wearing the night she was shot.

The State of Arizona prosecutors also showing pictures of the shirts Medina had on underneath, displaying holes horizontal to each other.

This story is still developing.
