Woman surrenders after escaping community reentry program

A woman who walked away from the Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program ( CCTRP ) last Saturday has surrendered.

Lorraine Roman surrendered to the Los Angeles Police Department today at 4 a.m. after being discovered missing on July 13.

A CCTRP staff member had been notified of no movement from Roman’s monitoring device the day she went missing. Staff had searched the area but her device was not found, and Roman did not report to her approved work location.

Roman was taken to California Institution for Women in Corona where her case will be referred to the San Diego County District Attorney’s office for escape charges. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation say they received Roman in April 2018 from LA County with a four-year sentence for first degree burglary, which was a second strike offense.

CCTRP allows participants who are eligible to serve the remainder of their sentence in a community program instead of in state prison. They provide different rehabilitative services that help with alcohol and drug recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.
