Somerton restaurant fire under investigation

Authorities are investigating a local restaurant fire that left its kitchen at a total loss early Sunday morning.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department ( SCFD ) said firefighters arrived at the scene and found the kitchen was fully-involved. The restaurant had an open kitchen from the outside and the fire was contained to the kitchen. The sitting area of the restaurant suffered smoke damage.

Firefighters checked that the fire had not spread to the adjacent business after the fire was put out. SCFD said the restaurant’s kitchen was a total loss.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the incident and the fire remains under investigation.
