Wind advisory issued for Imperial County

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a wind advisory in effect in the Imperial County today from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The areas in effect by the wind advisory are as followed:

Chuckwalla Mountains, Southeastern Imperial County, Western Imperial County, and Imperial Valley.

Winds are 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph .

Some of the impacts of these strong winds are as follows:

Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. In addition, strong winds over desert areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand.

Use extra caution.
