Suspect sought in Calexico electronic store theft

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect that broke into an electronic store on the corner of Fourth Street and Emerson Avenue in Calexico.

The burglary happened on June 4.

The Calexico Police Department said the suspect stole merchandise and damaged property, adding up to more than $1,000.

Giovanni Gonzalez, the store owner of Gio Electronics, received an alert on his phone from his security system notifying him something was wrong at his store.

Gonzalez said this is the second burglary he’s had at that location and was expecting the worst when he received the alert.

Gonzalez said when he arrived at the store, the glass door had been broken with a rock.

He said about $300 in merchandise was stolen by the suspect.

His biggest loss was the door that he said costs more than $1,000 to replace.

Gonzalez said it’s the second time he’s had to replace the door.

Security footage from the store shows the suspects face and body tattoos.

Any information on the suspect should be given to the Calexico Police Department.
