UPDATE: Two students arrested on Wednesday morning in San Luis High School after San Luis police said they had fentanyl , made their first appearance in court Thursday morning where a judge set bonds for both students.

A judge has set a cash bond for 18-year-old Noemi Hernandez-Madrigal for $150,000 and a cash bond for 18-year-old Alessandra Cardenas-Hernandez for $100,000.

Both suspects were instructed not to interact with one another whether they are able to post bond or not.

They were also told that pleading guilty could affect their immigration status if they are not U.S. citizens, even if the charges are later dropped.

Both suspects will be back in court June 10.

Yuma Union High School District did issue a statement following the arrests of the three teens. ” The arrests were certainly concerning for the district. As educators, you never want to see young people resort to that type of life-altering, negative decision. However, it is a credit to the San Luis High School staff and Police Department for recognizing the situation and taking immediate action. ”
