Are locals in support of Congress pursuing President Trump’s impeachment?
Robert Mueller essentially left it up to Congress to make a decision on how to move forward with the evidence presented in his report.
Now with 601 days left in President Trump’s first term, News 11 asked locals whether they believe Congress should pursue impeachment proceedings?
Yuma native, Summer Bradley, said, “I do not think we should impeach him, absolutely not.”
Another Yuma resident agreed, saying “That is so unfair what [Democrats] are doing to Trump. Very, very unfair. He just wants the best for our country. ”
There are other Yuma residents who believe Congress should continue investigating President Trump.
One resident said, ” I just want Congress to do more about it. Do what’s best for the country and stop trying to do what’s best for your pocketbook. ”
Andrew Quinones added, “I believe had it been any other president before [Trump] that has said the things that he said, and acted the way he has, everything would have moved a lot faster. Somebody would’ve been impeached already. ”
Tuesday morning, President Trump responded to Mueller’s speech, standing by his innocence tweeting that the case is closed.
Meanwhile, several Democratic candidates are supporting an impeachment inquiry by Congress.
House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has shied away from impeachment proceedings but released a statement today saying Congress will continue to investigate to protect the country’s elections and democracy.
