“Harvest Festival” kicks off Halloween season for Yuma families
Nothing says Halloween like pumpkins, face painting and Kodak moments.
Families took part in the Halloween festivities at the Annual “Harvest Festival” at the Yuma Palms Regional Center.
Eric Bowlin, the Coordinator of Special Events for the Yuma Palms said there was something for everyone.
“Yuma Palms is bringing halloween early with our harvest festival. Free candy for the kids and costume. And refreshments and games,” Bowlin said.
For Julie Acosta, it’s about capturing the perfect moment for her daughter’s first Halloween.
Acosta said, “I don’t remember picking pumpkins when I was little honestly. So I just want to give her that memory. Take a bunch of pictures when we carve it and all that.”
Yuma resident, Camille Benton-Paulino hopes to continue family traditions with her children.
“We’re that family that goes all out. And so any little event that gets them out of the house instead of being on video games. And it gets interactions with other kids.”
Many in the crowd got to put on their Halloween costumes early for the occasion.
“I mean my daughter has four different costumes already. I’m that one mom to buy them all. Because you know it’s an experience that they don’t get to have every year,” said Benton-Paulino
But for Benton-Paulino’s son Elvis, the best reason to celebrate Halloween is getting free candy.
