Yuma County cases increase by 111 in one day

County records two new deaths

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The number of coronavirus cases in Yuma County increased by 111 Wednesday, bringing the countywide total to 1,520.

This is the third-highest spike since Monday, when health officials recorded a 152 case increase, the highest yet.

New statistics show the number of hospitalizations growing by 10 in one day, now at 83.

Today YRMC also provided the public with an update on its treatment of COVID-19 patients, saying there are currently 17 patients in the ICU, out of 42 beds.

The Yuma County Health District (YCHD) confirms two new deaths, bringing the death toll to 21. Health officials are not releasing further information on county deaths, nor are they releasing information on the latest cases.

The 20-44 age range continues to see the majority of all cases. The category grew by 56 cases in a single day, now at 689 cases total.

Cases within the critical 65 and older category grew by 10 cases, now at 202 cases total for Wednesday. That category makes- up 14 percent of the total.

Currently over 12,000 residents have been screened, an increase of 573 tests overnight.

Arizona currently has 22,223 cases of coronavirus. The illness is blamed for 981 deaths across the state, including 21 in Yuma County.
