Cases in Mexicali rise to 1,410, trailing Tijuana
MEXICALI, Baja California (KYMA, KECY) - The Baja California Secretary of Health now reports 3,325 cases, an increase of 97 statewide.
Health officials have updated the total number of recovered, now at 636. Officials also report 558 total deaths.
In Mexicali, there are currently 1,407 cases, 127 deaths, and 294 recoveries. Though less than Tijuana's total, Mexicali has been slowly catching up. Now they are separated by just 161 cases.
However Tijuana leads with a wide margin in terms of deaths. The latest statistics for Tijuana include 1,568 cases, 380 deaths, and 294 recoveries.
Today the Baja California Secretary of Health announced the state is currently looking into criteria for the eventual reopening of the state.
However, Baja California currently has a "Red Light" status — the worst category in terms of the virus' impact in the state. This is determined by current cases, mobility, and the close proximity between cities with large numbers of active cases.
