Local AZ Department of Corrections cases now reflected in countywide case total

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Public Health District confirmed 67 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) Sunday, bringing the total to 443.

These 67 new cases include 30 cases from AZ Department of Corrections Facilities not previously reported.

The county says Department of Correction cases are now included in the total because "Although these individuals are not in the community, they 'reside' in a Yuma County zip code."

The County has not released further information regarding the latest death.

The county is now reporting 20 hospitalizations, a slight decrease, however the county has not released specific information regarding COVID-19 recoveries thus far.

The 20-44 age continues to carry the bulk of countywide cases, making up 45 percent of the total— an increase of 2 percent in one day. The category with the least reported cases are those under 20 years-old, with 28.
