Agents find meth stashed in bag of hot cheetos

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol agents at the stopped a woman and man suspected of smuggling narcotics Thursday.

It happened Thursday morning at the Highway 86 checkpoint, when a 34-year-old woman driving a black Lexus with a 31-year-old male passenger tried to cross the checkpoint.

Agents say a K-9 detection team alerted them to the Lexus, so they sent it to secondary.

There, agents found two small bags hidden inside a re-sealed bag of chips— a party size back of Hot Cheetos, to be exact.

Agents concluded that the two small bags contained methamphetamine. Also, agents found two glass containers filled with marijuana inside the center console of the vehicle.

The total weight of the meth discovered was approximately 58 grams with an estimated value of $2,900, according to CBP.

The total weight of the marijuana discovered was approximately 10 grams with an estimated value of $400.

Agents say the driver and passenger, both United States citizens, were taken to the station for further processing and then released.

Agents seized the narcotics.
