Brawley student claims strangers took pictures of students secretly
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-The Brawley Elementary School District (BESD) is asking parents to stay vigilant. A student at Phil Swing Elementary School reported to school staff that he had witnessed three people taking photographs of students near the school fence.
According to the student, it was three men dressed in dark clothing. School staff reported the incident to the Brawley Police Department and immediate action was taken by increasing patrols in the area.
On Wednesday parents and students were alerted of the situation.
According to the school district's superintendent, this isn't the first time an incident of this type has been reported.
"There was a similar situation reported at another elementary school in Brawley, that one happened after school," said Richard Rundhaug, BESD superintendent.
Runhaug said they are working with Brawley police to investigate the report.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to police or school staff.
