Mexicali sees at least four virus deaths a day

Mexicali, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Baja California's Secretary of Health confirmed there are 1,646 coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state, 602 of which correspond to Mexicali.

The Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico says there are now 244 deaths in Baja California, 58 of which are from Mexicali.

At this rate, Mexicali is seeing about 4 deaths per day.

Perez Rico explains the largest group of infected persons have a history of chronic illnesses, such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity.

He added that in Mexicali, hospitals find themselves with a 67 percent occupation from coronavirus patients. However he says 82 percent of all infected patients don't need to be hospitalized.

Perez Rico add that to this day, 87 percent of coronavirus patients in Mexicali have recovered

In Baja California, quarantine measures are set to end on May 30, in accordance with Mexico's national social-distancing measures.
