UPDATE: More bodies found near Puerto Penasco

Volunteers say they’ve now discovered 42 bodies outside Puerto Penasco , Mexico.

ABC15 reports a volunteer group recovered the remains of more than three dozen people in graves in the desert outside the resort town.

Prosecutors say most of the bodies are skeletal remains. Only one appears recently buried.

Drug cartels frequently use mass graves and burial pits to dispose of murder victims.

Volunteer groups, comprised mostly of women, have taken responsibility for searching for the bodies of Mexico’s missing. They say police do little to investigate cartel-related disappearance and murders.
