Rep. Adelita Grijalva wins U.S. Representative for District 7

UPDATE (8:20 PM): NBC News has projected Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) will keep her seat on the U.S. House of Representatives.

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA) - Residents across Yuma County are casting their votes for U.S. Representative for Districts 7 and 9 Tuesday.

The candidates running to represent District 7 in the U.S. House of Representatives are Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ), who is running for reelection, and Daniel Butierez Sr. (R-AZ).

Both candidates ran to fill the seat left vacant by the late Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) last year, with his daughter winning the seat.

The two candidates shared messages of gratitude for the support they've received on the campaign trail.

"Thank you very much...thank you for your faith. I'm very grateful for the support and I'm looking forward to a full term," Rep Grijalva expressed.

"I thank them all for being there and being behind me," Butierez added.

Over in the U.S. Representative District 9 race, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is running for reelection, and his facing off against Danielle Sterbinsky (D-AZ).
