Trump says he’s cutting $4B in aid to Israel

(CNN, KYMA) - President Donald Trump says the U.S. is poised to cut off $4 billion dollars of aid to Israel. He told Fox News on Election Day that the ally nation doesn't need the money.

Under a memorandum of understanding, the U.S. gives Israel almost that much military support each year. That agreement is set to expire in 2028.

Trump could be suggesting that flow of money might stop at the end of this year instead. He says doesn't want democrats to use U.S. aid to Israel as a talking point.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently told a news outlet in his country, U.S. aid would be coming to an end.

The two countries opened talks in may about how they might replace the memo of understanding.
