Arizona Western men’s basketball helps prepare for Bridget’s Gift fundraiser

YUMA, Ariz. — The Arizona Western College men's basketball team stepped away from the court Thursday to support a cause close to the Yuma community.

The Matadors traveled to Cocopah Casino to help set up for Bridget’s Gift’s 14th annual Western Dance and BBQ, an event dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and providing funding and support for local community members battling the disease.

Men’s basketball coach Kyle Isaacs said the team has volunteered to help with the event for about five seasons, recognizing the impact cancer has on families throughout the community.

“We’ve been doing this for about five seasons now. Everybody’s family has been affected by cancer, either directly or through someone they know. This community does so much for us and supports us in so many ways, and this is just one small way we can give back,” Isaacs said.

The 14th annual Western Dance and BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at Cocopah Casino. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $85, including fees.
