Spotify removes 50 million AI slop tracks from recommendatons

(CBS, KYMA) - Spotify is pushing "human artistry" before AI in their latest press release.

The music streaming giant said Tuesday they had removed more than 50 million AI slop and spam tracks from recommendations, with an additional 74 million "spammy tracks" removed from the platform altogether.

"This work isn't finished," Spotify said in a statement. "AI moves fast, and bad actors adapt just as fast. But as AI makes music more abundant, we believe listeners will value human artistry even more. Our job is to make Spotify the place they find it."

Last year, Spotify said they were strengthening AI protections for artists, songwriters and producers.
